WATERLOO, Iowa --- Wil Hunemuller shot a sizzling 69 and Jacob Bermel added an even-par 72 to lead Cedar Falls to Metro Meet golf championship Tuesday at Irv Warren Golf Course.
The Tigers needed those outstanding rounds to edge West by nine strokes.
"This was one of our better performances this year, and it is our first time winning the Metro Meet since I have been head coach," said Cedar Falls coach Rich Strike. "I am happy with how we preformed and I hope we can continue to play well."
Austin Jackson paced the Wahawks with a 75 and Tom Richter finished at 76. Just three shots separated West's top four golfers.
"We have done pretty well this season," said West coach Josh Barta. "We just need to work on our short game a little bit more to be ready for the (Mississippi Valley Conference) Divisional meet at Bunker Hill next week."
Waterloo East was a distant third Tuesday. Clay Wilkinson topped the Trojans with an 86.
