Virgil Haley is the head coach at West High for boys’ and girls’ swimming. He graduated from UNI with a B.A.,M.A., and Superintendent Endorsement. He has been coaching since 1970 at the high school and college level. He coached at Dubuque Senior, UNI, Waterloo Central High School, Columbus High School, and West High School. He became head coach for the boys’ swim team at West High in 2000 and the girls’ in 2003. His goal for the swim team is to teach them what they need to know to compete in the MVC. Coach Haley has been married for 35 years to his wife, Winston; and they have 2 daughters, Brianne and Meredith.
