ADMISSION: Doors will open to the public at 8:30am

We will be wrestling on 4 mats in the Moody Gymnasium plus 1 mat in wrestling room.

- Semi-Finals & Consolation Semi-Finals
- 1st, 3rd, 5th, & 7th Place Matches
SEEDING: Seeding will take place on Friday, February 3rd, based upon the entry forms submitted by 9:00am on Friday. We will not reseed weights if you have late additions or somebody does not make weight & wants to move up. That wrestler will be put in a JV bracket.
No new names may be entered after 9:00am on Friday February 3rd.
PROCEDURES: Matches will be called for all 5 mats and On-Deck matches will be called for each specific mat. As a match is concluded, the next on-deck match for that mat will be assigned and called.
FORMAT: 16-man brackets will be used. All winner bracket matches will be 2-2-2. Consolation and non-winner bracket matches will be 1-2-2. The wrestleback format is that same as the varsity tournament.
Frosh/Soph Individual champions will be determined, with medals given for 1st through 3rd.
Team score will be kept, using the following advancement points:
2 advancement points for each match won in the championship bracket
1 advancement point for each match won in the consolation bracket
*-advancement points for byes in each wrestled round, except finals
2 points for a fall, injury default win, win by disqualification, or forfeit
1.5 points for a technical fall
1 point for winning by a major decision
1st place (16pts), 2nd (12), 3rd (9), 4th (7), 5th (5), 6th (3), 7th (2), 8th (1)
JV Individual champions will be determined, with medals given for 1st-3rd.
NO team score will be kept
ELIGIBILITY: A wrestler who competes in the Varsity MVC Tournament on Saturday January 28th will NOT be eligible to compete in this freshman/sophomore part of this tournament. JV wrestlers may participate in both the varsity and JV MVC tournaments.
LOCKER ROOM ASSIGNMENTS: Will be assigned upon arrival by host school. Schools should provide their own locks, towels & security for their assigned area. Hempstead assumes no liability for damages from theft or vandalism. Please advise your wrestlers that they are responsible for their own valuables.
TRAINER: A certified athletic trainer, Megan Weber of DBQ Community School District, DBQ, IA will be on duty to address any injury concerns.
HOSPITALITY ROOM: There will be a hospitality room for coaches and officials in the teachers lounge.
CONCESSIONS: Hempstead will provide a full service concession stand with pizza, beverages, hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, pretzels and candy for athletes and fans.
NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK is permitted by fans.Team coolers must accompany teams and remain in team area.

2012 Independence JV Wrestling Tournament

Teams: Belle Plaine, BCLUW-SHBCLUW, CR Prairie, CR Washington, CR Xavier, Don Bosco, Dubuque Hempstead, East Buchanan, Hampton-Dumont, Independence, Iowa City West, Iowa Falls, Jesup, Oelwein, Sigourney, South Winneshiek, Union, Vinton-Shellsburg, Waterloo West & Waukon.
Weigh-Ins: Will start at 8:00 am in the boy’s locker room. Upon arrival, meet in the wrestling room, which is located across from the boy’s locker room.
Sessions: Wrestling will start at 9:30am. Brackets will be 4-man round robin. Divisions will be determined after everyone has faxed entries @ 319-334-6096 Friday before noon. As much as possible, we will match the divisions by weight and ability. Divisions #1 will be the lightest and first weight class. JV should be within 2 lbs of weight faxed Friday night.
Concessions: Will be available all day!
Admissions: All day Students are $3 and Adults $4.
Coolers: Coolers for wrestlers are only allowed in the locker rooms. No one other than wrestlers can bring coolers. No outside food/drink is allowed in the building.
